GANDHINAGAR: love the prime minister Narendra Modi for Japan is likely to manifest in a mini Japan in Gujarat. In five years, a significant population of Japan is likely to fall on the state have launched a series of large and small-ticket industrial projects. 

The Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) industrial park in the village of Vitthalpur Japanese is rising on 120 acres near the proposed plant of Suzuki Motors. The park is being developed by the Industrial Development Corporation Gujarat (GIDC) in which four Japanese companies - MA Extrusion India, Minda ROKI Company, Toyota India Forms and TS Tech Company - have acquired land. The GIDC has begun work to develop infrastructure worth Rs 158 million rupees to facilitate the park. 

Meanwhile, the International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has agreed in principle to carry out the modernization of Alang shipbreaking yard at a cost of Rs 1,200 crore. 

Bonhomie with Modi Japan has been a longstanding issue. Gujarat dominates 40% of the geographical area covered by the ambitious bilateral project between India and Japan - Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor and Dedicated Freight Corridor. Japan has also been the official partner of the countries in the three previous Summits Vibrant Gujarat Global Investors. Also this time, Japan is one of the seven partner countries. 

Moreover, the Japanese corporate giants like Suzuki Motors, Honda Motors, Hitachi and several others are about to set up shop in Gujarat. The Gujarat government has requested the Centre for a soft Rs 5.968 million rupees JICA project for Ahmedabad Gandhinagar-meter, which is likely to get a positive response loan. Then there is the Swarnim Dahejspring Desalination Private Limited, an SPV promises to be an important source of water for the region. It was formed in 2012 by a Japanese consortium Hitachi, Hyflux and Itochu. The consortium has also begun to develop Dahej as smart city.
