TRS chief KCR on Monday met Sonia Gandhi, triggering considerations over a possible merger of the TRS with the Congress soon after the passage of Telangana bill. The 30 minutes talk KCR had with Sonia was obviously not confined to just thanks-giving but to other issues, including merger.

The duo also examined the issue of floor coordination in both Houses of Parliament when the Telangana bill comes up for debate. The TRS president reportedly suggested that the bill could be passed only with the suspension of the rebel Seemandhra MPs. Sonia also asked KCR’s help in prevailing upon the BJP to support the Bill. The Congress leadership, plagued by the open rebellion of its own MPs, wants to elicit the support of all the stakeholders. The BJP is also now demanding that the provision of common capital is liable to be challenged in court.
