Students have approximately one hundred schools in and around Hyderabad can now boast an added benefit of receiving training in social skills and leadership program, courtesy of a noble youth of the city initiative.
As part of Teach for Change project launched by the Foundation Passionate Sunday, volunteers with a good command of English teach students of the class of 6-10 every Saturday on various aspects of the English language. This volunteer activity will start from 2015 academic year in the eleven mandals, including Ameerpet, Himayathnagar, Khairatabad, Nampally, Secunderabad and others.
"The goal of the initiative is to improve the overall levels of literacy in public schools," Chaitanya, the founder of the Foundation passionate presentation held at the government school Dharam Karan Road said.
"We are encouraging anyone with a passion to make a difference to implement low Teach for Change entering the website. Once selected, the volunteers will be trained for two weekends and can begin teaching in a government school near them for two hours every Saturday. "
One of the guests and the former minister, J. Geetha Reddy, said that communication skills were paramount in today's world and the program would help students to deliver efficient and capable citizens.
Social activist Swami Agnivesh felt there was a need for young people to usher in a change in society through various movements. He reported that 70 percent of schools in the country was run by the government and less than quality education is provided at these schools, the future of students will be bleak.
Model and designer, and actress Shilpa Reddy Regina pledged their support to the cause this time.
