Hyderabad: Chief K. Chandrasekhar Rao Telangana Saturday accused the central government led by Narendra Modi bias against the state minister.

The Prime Minister said that the Centre is not cooperating with Telangana in the implementation of the Reorganization Act of Andhra Pradesh. He also reiterated that the government of Andhra Pradesh Telangana is denied its due share of electricity and power generation in Srisailam is also stalling.

One day after the Board of Water Telangana Krishna allowed to produce electricity in Srisailam only until November 2, Telangana Chief Minister reviewed the power situation at a meeting with senior officials.

Asserting that the state is facing acute shortage of electricity, KCR, as the prime minister is popularly known, appealed to farmers not to grow cotton and go for alternative crops.

Telangana Rashtra Samithi's ruling (TRS) said Andhra Pradesh Telangana is not providing 54 percent share of electricity to the requirements of the Reorganization Act, which led to a crisis. He said the state is generating energy in Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar and buying power from outside to overcome the acute shortage.

KCR said the state facing shortage of power for two or three years, as he had said during the election campaign. He said the state would buy 1,000 megawatts of power from Chhattisgarh.

The Water Board Krishna had Friday Telangana allowed to generate electricity by using water from the Srisailam dam only until November 2. The state government has reacted strongly to the decision and are planning to challenge it in court.

Andhra Pradesh opposed the generation of electricity by Telangana on the grounds that this will create drinking water and irrigation water crisis in the Rayalaseema region.
