Chennai: banking and ATM networks nationwide services are likely to be affected on 12 November as the United Forum of Bank Unions, an umbrella organization comprising various organs of employees planned to go to one-day strike pressure for wage revision.
United Forum of Bank Unions, representing five labor unions and four officers association has planned to observe a token strike on November 12 demanding immediate settlement of wage revision for bank employees, All India Bank Employees Union General Secretary said Venkatachalam Ch.
"We will go on strike on November 12 Once again we will be conducting a strike in the area on December 2 wise," he told reporters.
He said bank employees were not far behind in implementing various schemes. "Despite the wholehearted support in the implementation of government plans announced from time to time, bank employees are not being paid properly comparatively" he said.
According to officials of the Association, the Association of Banks in India 'offers only an increase of 11.5 percent increase compared to the 17.5 percent offered in 2011-12.
"Bank Association of India 'has said that banks are reporting huge losses due to non-performing assets. We are not willing to accept it. We are forced to organize this protest," said one official.
Meanwhile, according to Venkatachalam, protest in the South will be held on December 2, north the next day, this area on December 4 and in the west, on December 5.
In Tamil Nadu alone thousands of employees will refrain from work and transactions of various checks and ATM services would be affected, he said.
