Gandhinagar: The work order for the pet project of Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'Statue of Unity' - tallest statue in the world of Indian Premier Interior Vallabhbhai Patel, was issued by the Gujarat government on Monday the company leading engineering Larsen and Toubro (L & T).

The 182-meter high 'Statue of Unity "which would double the size of the" Statue of Liberty "in New York (93 meters), could inspire future generations, Patel said.
"The project will include an exhibition and audio visual presentation on the life of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who will become the center of attraction for tourists from around the world," she said.
Patel also said that 75,000 cubic meters of concrete, 5,700 tons of structural steel, steel bars 18,500 and 22,500 metric tons of bronze were used for the project.
Patel said the "Statue of Unity 'project will generate employment in the tribal area of Narmada district and boost tourism.
The 'Statue of Unity' will be built on the island of Sadhu approximately 3.5 km south of the Sardar Sarovar dam in the area Kevadia in Narmada district of Gujarat state.
The project was launched by former chief minister of Gujarat and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on October 31, 2013, on the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. Modi has also launched a country wide campaign to collect iron to build the "Statue of Unity" and the government of Gujarat has stated that iron was collected about seven lakh villages across the country.
The Gujarat state government had invited expressions of interest from around the world for the project. After completion of the bidding process, L & T has been given the contract for implementing the "Statue of Unity 'project.
Leading builder Turner Construction, which built the famous architectural structure of Dubai Burj Khalifa ', is a consultant for the project.
