Nellore: Fresh spell of heavy rains ravaged several cities and towns across the district of Nellore causing flood like situation in several areas affecting normal life in the last 24 hours. The sudden downpour on Saturday that continued throughout the day on Sunday due to a possible cyclone 'Niloufer' predicted to hit the Kutch region of Gujarat affected life across the Nellore district. 

With the city Udayagiri receive unprecedented rainfall over 214.2 mm in the last 12 hours alone in the night from Saturday to Sunday morning, the entire city was flooded under waist-deep water with rainwater dip several colonies in the city Udayagiri. 

According to reports, several tanks were violated due to heavy rains in Nellore in the last 24 hours. 

According to information, the 'Tirumala Cheruvu' raped in Udayagiri in six different places causing anxious moments for people, especially those living in low-lying areas. And the 'Kotha Cheruvu' in Varikuntapadu also developed breaches at two different points 

Several mandals in Sullurpeta, Nayudupeta, Venkatagiri, Gudur and other parts of the district witnessed heavy rains right through the day on Sunday. CC Some roads near national highways and major arterial locations in cities around the district became huge pools, traffic to the waist in some places, paralyzing. Train services, however, remained intact. 

Meanwhile, officials are closely monitoring the situation throughout the district with the rains could continue the next 24 hours according to the Met department.
