Amid growing tensions with Telangana on electricity generation, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu Wednesday asked the government TRS not complicate things by breaking the rules and targeting TDP to hide its inefficiency.
One day Telangana Rashtra Samithi after (TRS) workers burnt the Telugu Desam Party office (TDP) in the Nalgonda district of Telangana, Naidu advised the government of Telangana behave responsibly by adhering to the rules governing the use of deposit Srisailam across the Krishna river.
Stating that power can be generated at the powerhouse on the left only if there was excess water, Naidu cited government orders issued in 1996 and 2004 and the instructions given by the Board of Directors of the Krishna River.
With the board to manage Telangana abide by the rules, the state government Wednesday wrote back to him, denying that there was any violation of the rules.
Irrigation Minister T. Harish Rao said the state will continue to generate energy in accordance with the rules.
Harish Rao alleged that Naidu, who opposed the formation of Telangana state, was now doing everything possible to deprive Telangana its due share of water and electricity.
TDP president, however, said his party is committed to the welfare of all Telugu people.
He said since the TDP is present both in the states, you can not act irresponsibly as the TRS.
He offered to provide 300 megawatts of power to Telangana to help tide over the crisis.
Naidu said his government will abide by the Reorganization Act of Andhra Pradesh, which allocates 54 percent of the electricity generated by existing plant, but ruled out a similar share of the next projects.
Harish Rao, however, said that Telangana was not even getting due share of power generation in Andhra Pradesh.
He said the government of Andhra will have to supply power even plants that are built with the money of the States of Andhra Pradesh.
