Hyderabad: The Telangana government's first budget is tied to Rs 70,000 crore and will give top priority to health, education, horticulture, besides women and children's welfare.
The chief K Chandrashekar Rao Telangana minister held a marathon meeting nearly seven hours (14: 00-21: 00) with senior bureaucrats and various Heads of Department in this regard at Hitex in Madhapur on Monday.
He found 14 proposals prepared by committees responsible for the preparation of the new Telangana state budget.
KCR emphasis on establishing a super specialty hospital in each district. He also directed the officials to include proposals to improve facilities in government hospitals in 10 districts.
It is known that the preparatory year's budget had reached its final stage and would probably be around Rs 70,000 crore.
It is worth mentioning here that KCR appointed 14 committees working group to submit budget proposals for welfare, consumption supply and water sanitation, agriculture, dairy industry, the development of infrastructure industries, irrigation, power, law and order among the other departments. Apart from the proposals for budget allocation, these committees were told to develop short-term, medium-term policies and long-term goals.
He directed officials to prepare a budget to present a complete picture of the policies, priorities and actions of their government in the next five years. Policies for each department should be prepared even before completion of the proposed budget allocation for that particular department, said then.
According KCR, recent budgets, prepared in the indivisible state, completely ignore the priorities and resources of Telangana. Officials should consider this and make recommendations taking into account the needs, demands and aspirations of the Telangana public, he felt.
