VISAKHAPATNAM: Chief Minister dreams of Andhra Pradesh N Chandrababu Naidu of Hyderabad IT replicate its success in the city of Puerto seem to have collapsed, at least for now.

The elegant building of Vizag Home Village, which opened with much fanfare less than a fortnight ago by Naidu himself was an image of destruction as its glass facade was blown to pieces by Cyclone Hudhud.

What makes the worst tragedy is that the beginning of the village, which is nothing but the new avatar of what was initially mooted as does a hatchery years by the previous regime, had gotten a start until 29 September this year, raising hopes of replicating the success of Kochi home Village in Vizag, who has always lived in the shadow of Hyderabad.

But this is not the only reason that AP government attempts to restart the IT sector in Vizag have received a major setback. The cyclone devastated the offices of most of the IT companies located in the picturesque Rushikonda IT Park.

Some industry sources believe that the cyclone could have dented the image of Vizag as a safe and scuppered government efforts to launch the Rushikonda Naidu as the most beautiful scenic IT park in the country destination.

Many IT offices on the hill to us. 2 and 3 have been badly damaged and is expected to take days to be back on your feet like most IT offices have glass walls that could not withstand the high wind speeds of about 195 kmph that shook the city . The offices of companies like IBM, Technology and Softsol Symbiosys in IT Park Rushikonda have been affected severely, informed sources told TOI.

While IBM officials were not available for comment, sources said it would be difficult for them to run their operations due to lack of power grids, fuel and communications.

Sans power supply, even IT companies who have not suffered any damage, have been forced to submit to productivity losses, as they had to close the store until the situation improves. "Even in societies where operations are partly due to the alternative power supply through generators, many employees may not report to work because of the gasoline shortage in the city," said a source from the industry.

"We are trying to get operations up and running. Guys Internet service have no idea when you can get the networks to be effective when we have the ability to begin operations.'re Losing mobile connectivity often," said Deepak Madala, Vizag IT Association President.

What has angered the industry most is that despite the pro-IT is making noises that the current Naidu regime, none of the officials have not even bothered to visit. "No one has bothered to check the status of IT hills either GVMC, EPDCL or any of the ministries. Electric or communication We have available for operations up lines. Things can return to normal only after water and power are restored, "said Park Association Vice President IT Rushikonda O Naresh Kumar.
