Rajahmundry: Water level of river Godavari rose alarmingly and reached over 11 meters Dowleswaram barrage in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh on Monday morning, said district officials responsible for overseeing the situation.
District Collector Neetu Prasad warned revenue, irrigation, police officers in the light of a threat of flooding for the district and held a review meeting with officials on the alarming increase in the water level in the dam Dowleswaram.
"So far, according to available information officials irrigation, the water level in Dowleswaram barrage is over 11 feet and the water level is rising alarmingly due to good rains in the watershed," said the collector .
All precautions have been taken in view of the threat of flooding to the district, he said, adding that the flag be hoisted danger when the water level reaches 12.5 meters.
Meanwhile, irrigation officials, income and other district are monitoring water levels at various locations near the Godavari and intensified checking embankments of tanks, as a preventive measure to find cracks or damage to these federations and sandbags are kept ready near dams tanks to plug any leaks, he said.

The district administration is deeply watching the situation in the district and has warned administration officials and irrigation after water entered some mandals in the district.
