Finally, the dilemma over sharing of IAS, IPS and IFS officers between two states is cleared after the Centre has issued a notification allocating officers to both states. However, which officer will be allocated to which government is yet to be known. Chief Secretaries of AP and Telangana states have requested the Centre to let the local officials serve in their same places.
Andhra Pradesh state gets total 211-IAS, 144-IPS and 82-IFS officers. Telangana state gets total 163-IAS, 112-IPS and 65-IFS officers. Out of the 211 IAS officer posts 64 posts to be filled up with promotions by AP government and Centre will allocate rest of the officer by direct recruitment. The same way Telangana government has to fill up 49 posts to be filled up with promotions and rest of the officers will be recruited by the Centre. Therefore, both states will have to wait until the Centre recruits the IAS officers and allocate them for the remaining vacancies.
