Hyderabad: pension cards and fresh rations will be the subject of T-November as the government is planning to introduce complete transparency in various schemes designed for the poor.
Civil Supplies Minister Etela Rajender and Cabinet sub-committee stressed the issue of new cards in place of the existing ones to ensure zero thefts.
Talking to the media, the minister said that applications to eligible beneficiaries of PDS and pension plans to be invited on October 15.
The information presented in the application is equated with the data collected during the Integrated Household Survey and after field inspection be reviewed to determine if the applicant belongs to BPL category or not.
The committee, in principle, has the same opinion to improve the amount of rice supplied under the Public Distribution System (PDS) from the current 20 kg to 30 kg per family per month for BPL families and also of the opinion that the government should not distribute free rice to beneficiaries. Instead, you must supply at Rs 3 per kg.
The meeting was attended by ministers Taraka- K Rama Rao, T Harish Rao, P Mahender Reddy, G Jagadish Reddy, IAS officials Jogu Ramanna and Peter and Raymond C Parthasarathi.
