The prime minister Narendra Modi is likely to meet his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif in a retreat to be held in Kathmandu after the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) summit.

Earlier in the day, Foreign Minister Sushma Swaraj told Pakistan's National Security and Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz Advisor. Swaraj had said Monday that it will be clear for Tuesday if the two prime ministers will have a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the SAARC visit. However, Aziz had argued that there was no plan for any type of interaction between the two leaders.

Modi will reach Kathmandu on Tuesday afternoon to attend the SAARC summit two days starting on Wednesday. In a busy schedule, Modi will mark a shuttle bus from Kathmandu and Delhi and also inaugurate a hospital. He also plans to hold bilateral talks with Nepal PM Sushil Koirala. Later in the evening, President Ram Baran Yadav Nepal will host a banquet for Modi.

The leaders of eight countries of South Asia will attend the 2-day event that starts on Wednesday.
