While there are several news and rumors surrounding the proposed capital for the new state of Andhra Pradesh, here is the latest related to the addition of new capital. Accordingly, the new capital will be built in four tehsils (aka Tahsils or talukas) - Tulluru and Mangalagiri in Guntur district and Ibrahimpatnam and Kanchakacharla in Krishna district. Irrigation Minister Devineni Uma confirmed, "Both Krishna and Guntur districts would be linked with the construction of a bypass between Tullur (Guntur district) and Gollapudi (Krishna district)."
When asked about the much talked about sharing the land, Uma, who also happens to be one of the committee members sharing the land, said most of the farmers are "ready" to give their land to the government for the purpose of sharing basis. Uma said that the state government has already promised rehabilitation and employment for farmers who are willing to share their land for the new capital.
Turning to the current Urban Development Authority, Uma demanded by Authority Capital Development, under the aegis of CM Chandrababu Naidu. "Authority Capital Development Fund should be constituted under the chairmanship of Prime Minister to take up development works in the capital region Vijaywada in place of the existing Urban Development Authority," Uma said.
