Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has spoken in favor of dividing the district into two with Kothagudem Khammam as elsewhere.
Speaking at a meeting on the occasion of Telugu Desam former minister Tummala Nageswara Rao from Khammam join TRS here on Friday, Mr. Rao said the district had a great natural wealth and Steel Authority of India Limited had recently approached him with an offer to invest Rs. 30,000 crore in setting up a steel plant in Bayyaram.
He said it would focus on development with the same force that led the movement for statehood. Mr. Nageswara Rao described as flawless leader who has been involved from the beginning of the Telugu Desam in 1982.
A large crowd of Khammam were presented to the meeting that led the Prime Minister to say that the case should have been organized in Nizam College grounds. It was his mistake that he did not plan the meeting that way.
The TRS office and adjoining roads were choked with traffic as an estimated 3,000 vehicles brought to the crowd. Between TDP leaders also joined TRS MLC included Balasani Laxminarayana, Khammam zilla parishad president G. Kavitha, district cooperative bank chairman muvva Vijay Babu, district cooperative marketing society president A. Anjaiah and district president Telugu Desam Kondabala Koteswara Rao. No less than 18 mandal presidents, members of the zilla parishad territorial constituency and sarpanches of TDP also joined the party.
