Hyderabad: Around 250 projects Municipal Corporation of Greater Hyderabad, launched by the then chief minister YS Rajasekhar Reddy and his successor K. Rosaiah and Kiran Kumar Reddy N. pending.
Projects include link roads, the Charminar pedestrianization project, heritage work, road over bridges, road-under-bridges, a sports complex and a mini-stadium under Major Hyderabad jurisdiction.
About 40 percent of the works are 25 percent complete, while the rest are still in the bidding stage. Together, the works worth Rs 1,000 crore have not yet been executed. No less than 77 related roadworks have been collected by the GHMC engineering wing projects which eight have been completed, 16 are under bidding process six project estimates have been revised and the rest have either recently started or work is in progress.
Under the Charminar pedestrianization project, only the granite pavement of Gulzar Houz to Charminar, and on the other hand, Sardar Mahal road is completed. The remaining projects are still ongoing CPP.
Work under heritage conservation Charkamans, Sardar Mahal restoration, restoring Mahaboob Mansion, Murgi Chowk and some others have concluded, while others are awaiting approval.
Other projects such as a pool and a mini indoor stadium in Kukatpally, sports complex in Hindinagar, Goshamahal, are caught in the early stages. Reasons such as elections, the transfer of officials, legal issues are being cited by the GHMC officials for delay in works.
