BJP-led NDA government on Tuesday named former Union Minister Ch Vidyasagar Rao as the Governor of Maharashtra.
In addition Vidyasagar Rao, Centre appointed new governors Rajasthan, Karnataka and Goa. Born in 1945, Vidyasagar Rao is a professional lawyer and was twice elected a member of AP Legislative Assembly three times as a member of the Lok Sabha. He also served as the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government in 1999.
In an interview after his appointment INN, Vidyasagar Rao said that it was a question of privilege for him to be appointed as governor of the state of Maharashtra. He thanked the prime minister Narendra Modi on his appointment, he said, that strive hard for the development of Maharashtra state.
