Kolkata: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Friday suspended jail officials and hospital staff on duty following the attempted suicide reported by suspended Trinamool Congress MP Kunal Ghosh, who is in prison for his alleged complicity in the scam Saradha .
Ghosh condition is now stable. He was hospitalized on Friday after he complained of feeling ill, police said.
Ghosh November 10 threatened suicide if others involved in the scam were not arrested within three days.
Banerjee said on Friday in the state assembly superintendent Presidency Jail, attending physician, nurse and hospital emergency staff have been suspended.
Police said Ghosh claimed "to the prison authorities had consumed sleeping pills."
"We are expecting that the prison authorities to confirm whether this is a suicide attempt, after which we will proceed accordingly," said Deputy Commissioner of the Division South Murlidhar Sharma.

"Kunal Ghosh's condition is stable now. He is responding to treatment and talk. His stomach arrival cleared (in the hospital) and was given a liquid diet too," said Sumanjit Roy, Deputy Commissioner, Department detective .
"The circumstances in which he said he was not feeling well are still under investigation and if there was a suicide attempt or not is yet to be proven," Sharma said.
Ghosh, who led Saradha media arm before he was arrested in November last year, has been claiming the participation of several leaders of the ruling Trinamool Congress, including its high command.
He also urged the court not to allow anyone to join him in prison, that will not be "deterred or influenced".
Stating that he was framed, Ghosh argues has influenced research and demanded to know what measures have been taken against those who started Ponzi schemes.
