11 people died and 40 were injured when the truck they were traveling in veered in a mountainous area in the Nabarangpur district of Odisha on Friday night. 

"The victims were members of a party of the opera which was scheduled to take place in Chandahandi. But unfortunately, the driver lost control of the vehicle fell from a height. Eleven people died in the accident," said DK Gamango, Inspector charge of the Police Station Chandahandi by telephone on Saturday. 

The injured were taken to hospital in Koraput district headquarters which is about 150 km from the accident site. "The condition of five fifty-five people was critical. Bodies are being sent for postmortem. Were all dead men," said Mr. Gamango, adding exact reason behind the accident was yet to be determined. The driver was hospitalized in critical condition.
