Hyderabad: Chief K Chandrasekhar Rao Telangana minister said Friday that his government has decided to spend Rs 10,000 crore to repair existing roads and build new roads across the state over the next two years.

The announcement came after the Prime Minister approved the recommendations of the Cabinet sub-committee that was created to study the feasibility of repairing existing roads and development of new roads in the state.

As part of the decision, the Roads and Buildings Department is mandated to lay 14,500 km of new roads BT statewide. In addition, the Prime Minister has instructed the officials concerned to improve existing roads.

He also announced that another 3850 km of roads will be developed with an allocation of Rs 5,000 crore under the Panchayati Raj Department.

It further relates to staff to remind all officials of Panchayati Raj had gone on deputation to other departments.
