VADODARA: A hotel clerk was arrested on Monday night after a police raid to bust a prostitution ring in the city. The racket was operated online through an escort website.
Police raided the hotel near the airport Harni Monday night after sending a decoy there. The police had received a tip about the activity and a fake client is sent to the hotel to bust the racket.
The informant contacted a broker, who asked him to pay Rs 30,000 for services. The informant was later taken to a room where a woman was waiting. The man informed him that there would be two other women who will join and could choose between them.
Acting under the instruction of the police, the informant who got into the room after the women arrived police said. Police rushed to the scene and arrested the three women who were allowed to go after recording their statements. Police arrested the hotel receptionist, Ramkumar Yadav who has been in police custody for two days.
"The scandal was operated through a web page. Customers are contacted women through the numbers provided in the website," said police inspector Karelibaug, JI Vasava. He added further that the owner of the site has been identified and is being carried out further investigations.
