Kadapa: A woman aged 73, was seriously injured when a woman allegedly poured acid on her face in an attempted robbery in village Nandalur Kadapa district on Wednesday, police said. 

The accused, identified as Najeebunnesa (38) is a habitual offender, said Deputy Inspector BV Nandlur Krishnaiah. The incident occurred in the afternoon when Najeebunnesa allegedly entered the house of the victim identified as Krupavathi is living just to steal valuables. 

Najeebunnesa acid had apparently carried with her and when she resisted the old woman threw the corrosive substance on his face, Krishnaiah said. The victim has been shifted to Chennai for better treatment.
