Rayalaseema Thursday observed a complete shutdown to protest Vijayawada be chosen as the capital of the AP. Educational institutions and business establishments remained closed for the day demanding that the capital is in Kurnool. 

Rayalaseema Development Justice Forum president P Lakshman Reddy said the region had fallen again "victims of politics of affluence". "Neither the ruling nor the opposition Telugu Desam YSR Congress has he shown any serious commitment to the development of backward regions. All are pro-rich", he alleged. 

Secretary General Rayalaseema Rajadhani Sadhana Samiti Dasaratha Rami Reddy Bojja flayed both sides for joining hands "please" MLAs from coastal Andhra. "Development projects announced by the government instead of capital for Rayalaseema may not apply even in the next 25 years. These projects are just rhetoric," said Rami Reddy.
