Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has announced that his government would hire all the top research institutions of the country to study the soil of Telangana State for better cultivation.
Speaking after unveiling a pylon and bust size statue of Telangana ideologue late Prof Jayashankar at the Agriculture University here on Wednesday, KCR said that the research institutions would be asked to recommend suitable crops to farmers based on the nature of the soil in their region. He said scientific approach to farming along with efficient use of technology would multiply the productivity by many times. He also advised farmers to focus on cultivation of seeds. He recalled that the Agricultural University once had good reputation for production of quality seeds and fertlizers. However, due to the negligence of previous regimes the university lost its steam. He expressed confidence that the TRS Government would restore the lost glory of Agriculture University, which now has been named after Prof Jayashankar.
The Chief Minister also announced the setting up of Telangana Seeds Corporation.
Earlier, he also inaugurated an indoor stadium for girls and laid the foundation stone for a research complex and examination hall.
