Nellore: Nellore district may be a potential to harness solar energy in view of abundant sunshine and vast wilderness area in the property District.The-estimated solar radiation data in AP potential is 5-7 kilowatt hours per square meter in Andhra Pradesh, which is one of the few states with the highest number of sunny days. In the case of Nellore district, the potential is 5.15 kWh / m², compared to the highest of 5.27 kwh / m² in Anantapur. If Guntur, perspective is 4.95 kWh / m².
Speaking to this newspaper, noted scientist and founder of alternative energy Nayudamma Centre for Development Alternatives, Dr. A. Jagadeesh said the solar radiation in Nellore is more than Guntur, Kadapa and said Kurnool.He wasteland available in Nellore district is far more than in Anantapur, referring to the percentage of wasteland to the extent of 37.61 per cent of the total area in the district of Nellore Anantapur as against 16.9, 14.72 and 21.97 in Guntur Kurnool percent. Noting the need to maintain clean water for solar panels for large solar PV power plants, said Nellore district is much better in the groundwater reserves in many places compared to Anantapur.
