The Telangana Government has decided to create an exclusive all-women police station in Cyberabad, the information technology (IT) District Housing several IT giants, a minister said Thursday.
IT Minister K. Tarakarama Rao said the station will open in 10 days in the IT corridor under Cyberabad police commissionerate limits.
At the meeting of the executive council of NASSCOM, the main body of the IT industry, Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao said that special emphasis will be placed on the safety of women working in the IT sector.
The minister told reporters that the meeting Cyberabad Security Council, jointly by the IT industry and Cyberabad police commissioner will call in a week to check the safety measures for women working in various IT companies.
Women comprise about 25 percent of the 3.5 lakh workforce in IT companies / ITES in Hyderabad.
The minister said the government is committed to ensuring the safety of all women. A working group constituted by the state government has already submitted its interim report. Will visit Singapore and other countries before the final report, suggesting reforms to improve the security environment for women.
