New Delhi: As part of its 'go-green' initiative, HDFC Bank has started sending PIN, unique code number, for holders of debit cards via SMS instead of the practice of sending by post.
Not only the environment but also convenient and saves time customer and the bank, HDFC Bank senior vice president and head of Business (Products Payment cards) Parag Rao said.
"With the launch of PIN Verde offer our customers the flexibility to generate a new pin number at a time and place convenient to them, while giving them the opportunity to take a vital step to saving our natural resources planet, "I said.
Green PIN is a password sent time customer mobile number registered with the bank. Use of Public Prosecutions, the customer can set PIN debit card at ATMs of the bank, Rao said. Customers will get the prosecutor within 48 hours of applying for it.
HDFC Bank has about 1.75 crore cardholders and debit cards around 16.5 lakh on an average is issued annually by the bank.
This space is for all states except Jammu and Kashmir due to restrictions on the delivery of bulk SMS for the state, Rao said.
Green PIN is one of the many "organic products" initiatives of HDFC Bank, said.
