Heavy flows in Godavari River in the district of Khammam threatens to reach alarming proportions in Khammam district as the water level touched 54 feet forcing officials to sound third warning level. 

A farmer adivasi Hanmanthu Madavi, 25, of village mandal Sarpanchguda in Tiryani killed as a result of heavy rains lashing Adilabad district on Saturday and Sunday. The rains pushed back on Monday, but not before leaving a trail of destruction in the form of damage to roads and houses. 

The water level in Godavari at Bhadrachalam has crossed third warning level of 53 feet and the current level was 54 feet around noon. More than two dozen villages in Khammam Bhadrachalam agency area were cut because of flooding and roads are cut. 

Besides Godavari, several streams of the agency were on a roll. A control room has been established in Khammam and Bhadrachalam. A team of National Disaster Relief Force was rushed to Bhadrachalam to undertake rescue operations. The residents of the flooded areas were moved to refugee camps by the district administration. 

The Warangal district administration continued hoisting second warning in Ramannagudem Eturunagaram division in Warangal district as it stood at 9.9 meters from Sunday night. 

All irrigation projects in Adilabad district are filled with water as tickets keep coming prey. Al Kadem project, the authorities raised two doors crest release more than 21,000 cubic feet per second to maintain a level of 698 feet against the full reservoir level of 700 feet. 

The Penganga River on the northern border of Adilabad district also received many huge flows upstream locations in Maharashtra received heavy rains over the past two days. The Penganga and Pranahita river, which is also swollen, are contributing to the increased level of Godavari districts Karimnagar, Warangal and Khammam in Telangana. 

Control Room in Secretariat 

Telangana Government has opened a control room in the Secretariat (Department of Disaster Management) to 040-2345088 (phone) and 040-23454293 (fax) to control the situation following heavy rains in the state in the last two days, according to a press release from Commissioner for Disaster Management here on Monday.
