NEW DELHI: The Shiv Sena has agreed to give 130 seats to the BJP, ending the stalemate in seat sharing for Maharashtra assembly elections, according to Times Now.
The leaders of the two parties met on Tuesday to resolve differences over seat sharing and reaching consensus to save the alliance.
However, it is still unclear if the Sena will reduce its share of seats or smaller coalition parties will have to make the sacrifice.
The two sides will now discuss the new proposal with other coalition partners.
Earlier, the Sena leader Subhash Desai group meeting, party spokesperson and Rajya Sabha member Sanjay Raut came to the BJP office - Vasant Smriti Bhavan - in Dadar in central Mumbai around noon and met with key BJP leaders on the issue of alliances.
Maharashtra BJP poll by Om Mathur and state party chairman Devendra Fadnavis were among those present at the meeting.
Fadnavis has convened a meeting of officials of the state BJP unit, presidents of district units, legislators and Members here to discuss the political situation before the Assembly elections.
Leader of the Opposition in the Assembly Eknath Khadse and opposition leader in the council Vinod Tawde participatied also at the meeting.
BJP has already rejected the formula proposed by Sena Uddhav Thackeray the chief of his party challenging 151-BJP 119 and allies 18 seats for elections to the 288 members of the state Assembly.
BJP yesterday made a counter looking 130 a climbdown from earlier 135, but said it would contest the 288 seats if "forced" to form part of its oldest ally of the NDA.
Earlier, BJP president Amit Shah had given categorical instructions Maharashtra party leaders will not accept anything less than 130 assembly seats of Shiv Sena.
