NEW DELHI: The Indian Railways plans to hire 76,000 in the current fiscal year ending March 31, 2015. 

The Railways has decided to end a policy within a month for setting up solar panels on all the buildings and railway stations across the public-private partnership. Committee will also create short-term resource mobilization. All these were announced at a press conference to mark 100 days in office. 

Jobs 

The Rail Ministry said a total of 16,299 candidates had signed up 76,000 empaneled for recruitment in Indian Railways during the last three months (June-August). 

More than 300 former military personnel have also been empaneled during the year. From Railways employs about 55,000 people in the service of group B and 19 to 20,000 in the Group C each year, those empaneled are likely to be absorbed in the same year. 

Railways currently employs 13.1 lakh people. 

Conservation 

After proposing the installation of solar panels on the roofs of buildings and railway stations across the country, Railways Minister Sadanand Gowda D said a comprehensive policy for implementation is being prepared and it will be finalized within a month. "The work of installing the solar panel is likely to start by the end of the year," while adding that work on the installation of solar panels on the railway station Katra (Jammu and Kashmir) and started was completed in December.

While lending market is estimated at Rs. 11,790 crore and Rs. Rs 6.005 million is expected to be mobilized through PPP. 

One of the main ways of mobilizing resources would be FDI. The minister said that FDI will be very useful for high-priced projects like high speed rail, and for the remaining part of the Dedicated Freight Corridor, apart from projects like doubling capacity increase and introduction of automatic signaling. The Chairman Railway Arunendra Kumar said although no target has been set by the Ministry is receiving a lot of inquiries and interests of the various parties.
