Student unions have closed Kurnool against the decision of the state cabinet to establish the new capital of Andhra Pradesh residual between Guntur-Vijayawada. The only requirement to establish the capital in Rayalaseema, which has been behind in development, students have closed the city. 

Unions referred to students Sribagh agreement held between Andhra and Rayalaseema and called for the creation of the capital in Rayalaseema. The bandh was a success so willingly shops and other avenues were closed. Student unions warned that they would go for a fresh agitation if the capital is not provided in Rayalaseema.
