NEW DELHI: The issue of black money rocked the Lok Sabha on the first day of the winter session of Parliament on Tuesday as several opposition parties tried to corner the government on the issue.

As soon as the House met for the day, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) members the speaker's podium came with black umbrellas raising slogans in black money.

To them members of Janata Dal-United, Congress, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Samajwadi Party also raised slogans demanding an answer from the Prime Minister Narendra Modi as to when the black money is brought back joined.

When Sumitra Mahajan Speaker did not agree with this, they moved near the speaker's podium wear black umbrella with "Kaala Dhan Waapas Lao" (Bring back the black money) written on them, forcing up the house until noon.

When the House reconvened at noon, work resumed amid din. While opposition members continued to raise slogans, papers were presented and even matters of urgent public importance were taken by the house.

TMC members were also seen raising slogans in the Rajya Sabha. A notice of suspension of question hour to take the debate on the black money also occurs in the upper chamber.

Earlier, TMC members observed a protest outside parliament. They were joined in the protest by SP, JD-U and RJD leaders.

"Modi government promised to bring back the black money in 100 days, almost 200 days are over, must give an answer now," said TMC Sukhendu Sekhar.

"Black Money was one of the planks of the key survey in the Lok Sabha elections when the BJP won, but the government has done nothing in this regard, since it came to power. We want a threadbare discussion on this," leader JD-U KC Tyagi, who gave notice to discuss the Rajya Sabha Chairman on behalf of his party.
