The Civil Aviation Ministry has confirmed that it has decided to rename soon domestic terminal at Shamshabad International Airport after the former Prime Minister of the States of Andhra Pradesh NT Rama Rao.
The domestic terminal will soon be known as NTR domestic terminal, according to ministry sources.
Recall that in the past also the domestic terminal at the Indira Gandhi International Airport at Begumpet flights was also named after the former prime minister and Telugu Desam Party founder.
Previously, due to objections raised by the YSR Congress Party, the Ministry of Civil Aviation had called Shamshabad international airport after Rajiv Gandhi, and not after NTR.
In May this year, the TDP president, N. Chandrababu Naidu, had revived the demand of his party that the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport is named after NTR.
