Ajay Devgn has finally revealed that the protagonist is in his ambitious home production, Shivaay, which also marks his return as director.
As has been the trend among aging superstars, making movies with a lot younger beginners, Devgn's film will serve as a launching pad for Dilip Kumar and Saira Banu niece Sayesha.
Ajay reportedly ended Sayesha for the role after a series of auditions involving several candidates.
Shivaay is an action drama co-produced by Ajay Devgn Ffilms and Eros International. The film will be released in January 2016, and Devgn has been characteristically quiet about the project so far.
Devgn made his directorial debut in 2008 with U, Me Aur Hum which co-starred his wife Kajol and opened to a lukewarm response. Shivaay is the second director of the famous actor.
While U, Me Aur Hum was a relationship based drama Alzheimer's, Shivaay be a more mainstream affair with the hero that dominates most of the screen space.
Returning to Sayesha, the starlet is actually a third generation actor.
Sayesha Shaheen's mother is the daughter Saira Banu's brother and had a brief stint in Bollywood as the lead in the nineties, featuring in films such as the hit musical Aayee Milan Ki Raat and late Mukul Anand multistarrer Maha-Sangram. It was on the set of Maha-Sangram Shaheen met Sumeet Saigal, then a budding actor, who was cast opposite her in the film.
The two were married soon after. Maha-Sangram was released in 1990, just a year before the now 45-year-old Ajay make his debut with Phool Aur Kaante. Life in the insurance world show comes full circle.
