New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday interacted with the army chief, General Dalbir Singh and National Security Adviser Ajit Doval Day reception at the Air Force here in the context of ongoing violations of cease-fire in Pakistan.
Also mingled with guests and posed for photographs in "At Home" hosted by the Air Force chief Arup Raha to commemorate the Day of the Air Force. The event also was attended cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar.
Modi spoke in some detail by Gen Singh, navy chief RK Dhowan and Doval at the event, which also featured the presence of the upper portion and retired personnel of the Air Force of India, ambassadors and military officers stationed in missions diplomats in the capital.
The army chief went to the podium to greet Modi and was seen talking to him beyond the usual greetings.
Modi, wearing kurta-pajama and half-jacket, looked to be having a report of the chief of the army, apparently on the situation along the international border and the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir after repeated violations of the ceasefire by part of Pakistan.
Doval, who minutes before departure Modi met, he also referred to it carefully.
Modi was feted as he took a round in the grass. He shook hands with the men and women present, with some of them showering him with praise for his "leadership."
The reception given by the head of the IAF Raha also saw people packed Tendulkar, an honorary Group Captain in the IAF. Tendulkar was accompanied by his wife Anjali.
The Congress president, Sonia Gandhi preferred to mingle near the podium for much of the night and reached almost down to Modi after receiving guests.
The two leaders are seeking a mandate for their parties in Maharashtra and Haryana and are locked in a keen debate.
The national anthem was played shortly after the arrival of President Pranab Mukherjee. Among those present at the scene the former prime minister Manmohan Singh and Gursharan Kaur wife were.
Modi interacted with Manmohan Singh and the two leaders also shared a laugh. He also greeted Sonia Gandhi, before leaving the reception.
Modi was first "home" organized by a chief of the armed forces event.
