Until now, students in the top 20 percentile of class XII marks were only eligible for entry into IIT. As a result, those who scored well in the Common Entrance Examination, but could not reach the top 20 percentile were denied entry. Under the new rules, they have scored 75 percent marks in class XII will also be eligible.

"After a long deliberation, the IIT Council has decided that, in addition to the 20 percentile condition, also have guaranteed formula brands," said Secretary Ashok Thakur MHRD.
