The state of Telangana is scheduled for around 7,000 million units (MU) of energy per year from central generating stations (CGSS) over the next five years. According to the report of the committee working group, which was submitted to the state government, a total of 1,000 MW of next PGC will be available to the state.
That the state is expected for NTPC Kudigi 2,812 MU, MU 906 NTPL Tuticorin, 405 MU New Neyveli TPP, 419 MU of NPCIL Kalpakkam and 2381 MU NLC TPS Sirkali _ a total of 6,922 MU per year over the next five years.
Therefore, it is expected that the State for 420 MU in 2014-15, 2016-17 MU 171, MU 320 MU in 2017-18 and 104 in 2018-19. Besides supplies PGC, the state also hopes to buy the power plant in the southern region.
The report says Telangana need extra energy, even after playing in the TSGenco, CGS and APGenco sources. Spare capacity for coal-fired generators in the southern region will be around 3,300 MW in 2014-15 and increase to nearly 6,000 MW in 2016-17.
The estimate was arrived at based on the timing of implementation and berths at the deals to date. The plants in the south can be taken to get extra power to prevent corridor NEW-SR transmission constraints in the medium / long term.
Other states in the region are also competing for this capacity available and have already launched through public bidding.
