Visakhapatnam: Chief Minister N Chandrababu AP Naidu today said the State Electricity Department suffered Rs 1,200 million rupees loss due to Hudhud cyclone which devastated the northern districts of coastal Andhra.
The Chief Minister today reviewed the relief operations in the areas affected by the cyclone in the district at a meeting with District Collectors. He said 13,000 people were working in the areas affected by the cyclone to restore power supply. About 30,000 electric poles have to be purchased to erect in the areas affected by the cyclone, said.
The Chief Minister said a rally will be organized along the beach in Vizag on 23 October with a theme of "We will win over Cyclone". Naidu said his government was taking effective measures to provide basic necessities to 14 lakh families in areas devastated by the cyclone and have asked a fair price for distributors to supply raw material to people in the production of identity cards. Chandrababu Naidu, who is camping here for the last week to oversee the work of relief and rehabilitation of cyclones is likely to go to Hyderabad tonight.
