Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday called on people to make generous contribution to the reconstruction of Visakhapatnam and bring to the city, the worst affected by the cyclone Hudhud, back to its 'former glory'.
He said he is preparing an action plan and experts from agricultural universities will be a part of it. "Anyone can help to rebuild the city by donating or volunteering. The students will be involved heavily in the government's efforts to rebuild the city and also in the rescue and relief operations," Naidu said.
The Chief Minister said he has held meetings with corporations and urged them to come forward and support the government to build the colony of 10,000 fishermen families infrastructure that can withstand wind speeds up to 250kmph.
The government will soon identify land (for fishermen's colony). I am not satisfied with the cleanup of debris. The administration has thrown debris along the roadside. Now, all debris must be transported to various landfill sites, including trash.
"Due to logistical problems, the transport of essential goods was affected, but the situation, however, has improved and such items will be transported to the ration shops for distribution," he said.
The Chief Minister announced that the government will soon start a website for the reconstruction of Visakhapatnam and every information is updated in it where people can give information and also contribute to the fundraising. Naidu, who toured the area agency Paderu and ARKU here yesterday, said coffee plantations will be held in five lakh hectares land to improve the economic conditions of the tribal people as it is the main source of income for some tribal communities .
He also appealed to people to celebrate Independence Day with only light lamps instead of cookies break. Meanwhile, officials of the Association has decided to contribute his base salary of two days, for a total of 125 crore rupees Andhra Pradesh not gazetted, Relief Fund Chief Minister.
