Bhubaneswar: A deep depression in the Bay of Bengal intensified Hudhud cyclonic storm on Wednesday and could hit northern Andhra Pradesh and Odisha in October next 12 hours, according to the Met department. 

The Bhubaneswar center of the India Meteorological Department said the deep depression moved west-northwest and lay centered at 8.30am Andman North Sea and southeast side of Bay of Bengal, about 1150 km southwest of Gopalpur coast . 

"The system will continue moving west-northwestward, intensifying further into a" severe cyclonic storm "over the next 24 hours and then in a" very severe cyclonic storm "and north Andhra Pradesh and adjoining cross between Odisha Vishakhapatnam and Gopalpur on October 12, "Sarat Sahu, director of the center Bhubaneswar IMD said. 

Department officials met with Odisha could experience heavy rain on October 12 and October 13 due to the impact of Cyclone Hudhud (the name is source Omanian). They said they had asked the fishermen return to shore. 

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik held a meeting to review the state's preparedness for hurricane storm. "All preparations have been made to resolve the situation. Has asked all departments concerned to make contingency plans," he said. 

On Tuesday, the Odisha government had asked the 30 districts in the state to remain on alert after a Met department forecast. The focus was more on 16 districts including Ganjam which was hit by Cyclone Phailin in October last year.
