New Delhi: Protesting the delay in granting bail to the jailed chief J. Jayalalithaa, the AIADMK Members from Thursday was on a fast outside the Parliament Complex near Mahatma Gandhi statue here. 

45 AIADMK MPs from both Houses of Parliament observed a seven-hour fast from 10 am to 5 pm, demanding "justice" for Jayalalithaa on the anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi.

"The purpose of fasting is to draw national attention to the delay in granting bail to our leader. The judgment was delivered on Saturday, which was followed by holidays Dussehra" said parliamentary leader AIADMK P. Venugopal. 

He wondered why there was "late" to hear his bail plea, Mr Venugopal grant Jayalalithaa demanded "immediate relief in accordance with the law." Jayalalithaa was sentenced to four years in jail in a corruption case in 18 years and a fine of Rs 100 crore by a special court in Bangalore on September 27. 

The former chief minister of Tamil Nadu did not get any immediate relief from the Supreme Court of Karnataka that postponed a hearing on bail plea till October 7.
