Visakhapatnam: The Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporat-ion will now discard the tenders invited earlier for the preparation of Detailed Project Report of the proposed Metro Rail Vizag as the state government had entrusted the task to Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) .
Remember that the GVMC had invited global tenders for the preparation of detailed project for the Metro Rail project and received bids from six multinational organizations report. It was proposed to hold the DPR for stre-tch 20 km, with Rs 1.60 cr.
The Corporation has received offers of Rites, a Government of India Company; Systra Group; SREI limited infrastructure financing; Hyderabad based Aarvee Associates; Headquartered in Delhi LEA aso-ates South Asia Private Limited and American AECOM consultants to prepare detailed project report.
Recently, the state government appointed a committee of seven -member in which the head or equivalent official of Delhi Metro Rail Corporat-ion (DMRC), the teacher or the Head of Department (Planning) Engineer, School of Planning and Architecture (SPA), Vijayawada; Professor of Urban Transport of CEPT University, Ahmedabad; PPP Expert or any other proposed by the government of Andhra Pradesh Member; Chief City Planner, GVMC; Chief Town Planner, Visakhapa-Nam Urban Development Authority were members and the Chief Engineer of the GVMC had to act as member convener.
The committee has to consider offers by organizing exhibitions on technical and financial aspects. But with the decision of the state government is likely to rule the bidding process.
In addition, Mr. E. Sreedha-ran has been appointed advisor for Metro Rail projects.
GVMC Chief Engineer B. Jayaram Reddy, said there would be finalizing consulting further since the government-run institution has been entrusted with the preparation of the report.
