State Government of Andhra Pradesh has decided to purchase 2,422 new vehicles for the police department by spending an amount of Rs.100 crore.
The new vehicles are added to the existing include SVUs, jeeps and motorcycles to modernize the police force in the state. The government has relaxed the decision to ban the purchase of new vehicles by the finance department.
The Interior Ministry has issued a GO to administrative sanction on Wednesday to release Rs 100 crore with the concurrence of the Department of Revenue. The GO said that the DGP has been requested to ensure the best value on the acquisition of vehicles required for the needs of the police force.
It may be recalled here that the Director General of Police searched JV Ramudu government permission for the purchase of new vehicles two weeks ago.
