A task force of representatives of TDP and BJP has been formed to study the problems of water and power sharing between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
The decision was taken at a meeting of Members called by the Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday to discuss ways to keep the promises made by the Centre in the AP State Reorganization Act. The working group assumes significance in the wake of the controversy over the hydel power generation from Srisailam project in Telangana.
Mr. Naidu wanted the deputies to do everything possible to ensure that the efforts of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh got what was promised by the Centre. Special efforts are needed to raise funds for the restoration of infrastructure in the districts of Visakhapatnam, Vizianagaram and Srikakulam.
The working group will be headed by the Union Minister P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju, while YS Chowdary, Rajya Sabha member, will be the coordinator. Other deputies Haribabu K. and B. Dattatreya (BJP), and Malla Reddy Thota Narasmhulu (TDP) are members.
At a press conference later, Mr. Chowdary said that deputies have decided to allocate Rs.
