Visakhapatnam: A System Emergency Restoration separate wing (ERS) will be created in the state soon to meet any eventuality in case of calamities like cyclone Hudhud. Informing this here on Tuesday, the State Energy Secretary Ajay Jain said the LRA was intended to restore power quickly in the aftermath of natural disasters. When 400 kV towers that support power lines collapsed, it would normally take 20 to 25 days to rebuild. However, ERS towers will be set within 24 hours and restore the temporal power until permanent re-erected towers, he said.
Throwing more about ERS, Executive Director of Red Eléctrica Corporación, Sekhar said each set of ERS cost around Rs 5 million rupees. The ERS tower would require no foundation and the base would be a box of four meters above the heavy metal angles would be assembled and erected, he said, showing the 50 meter high tower settled ERS Pendurthi to connect Garividi line. "This is the first time we have established the ERS towers in Andhra Pradesh. Nothing less than eight towers are going up. One of Simhdri to Pendurthi, four towers in Pendurthi-Garividi sector and three in Kasimkota near Anakapalle" he said.
The ERS tower would be mounted with the support of about a dozen strong wires fixed to the ground. AP Transco CMD said Vijayanand ERS equipment was imported from Canada and the US for the Power Grid Corporation.
