HYDERABAD: An alleged attempt by a group of four young men of the city to join the row of ISIS, a Sunni jihadist group has been frustrated by the Hyderabad Police.
The four, including two engineering students (all aged between 23 and 25) were located to Calcutta last week where they were allegedly preparing to flee to Iraq, a police officer senior said Friday.
The youths were "attracted" by the propaganda ISIS social networking sites and mobile messaging network-based, he said.
"However, parents were receiving" suspicious "for her children and she contacted the city police, which in turn they collected from Kolkata last week based on information from their parents," said the police officer.
The youths were counseled and sent back to their parents, he added.
In response to a query, the official also said the four young men were not in contact with agents of ISIS or vice versa and it was only through social networking platforms that are attracted to ISIS.
