Top officials of telangana government on Monday visited the historic Golconda Fort to finalise the venue for holding the next Independence Day celebrations.
Chief Secretary Rajiv Sharma, DGP Anurag Sharma, City Police Commissioner P Mahender Reddy, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar and officials from Archaelogical Survey of India, Armed forces and other departments inspected possible venues for the event. Speaking to media persons later, Somesh Kumar said that possible venues were shortlisted and a final decision would be taken by this evening.
The Chief Secretary said that the venue would be finalised after taking several aspects into consideration which include security, parking, entry and exit points. Meanwhile, the DGP indicated that Golconda Fort might be permanent venue for the Independence Day and Republic Day functions of telangana government in future.
It may be mentioned that Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday conveyed his decision of holding the Independence Day function at Golconda Fort. It was on his directions that the top officials visited Golconda Fort to finalise the venue for main official function.
